Paul Bontempo is president and co-founder of MBI – Gluckshaw. He has been a contract lobbyist since 1989. He was a member of the Democratic National Committee for eleven years, from 1984 – 1992 when he also was Vice Chairman of the DNC Eastern Caucus and then again from 2010 – 2013. Bontempo holds the distinction of being the longest serving member ever of the Democratic State Committee having first been elected in 1977 and re-elected eight times. He has also been a delegate to five Democratic National Conventions. In October 2015 the Democratic State Committee named Paul a PILLAR OF THE PARTY, an award given for the first time.
He was appointed to various state boards and commissions by five governors of both political parties and recently served on a licensing board at the Division of Consumer Affairs for eleven years. A former Chairman of the Morris County Board of Elections, he is currently a trustee and treasurer of the New Jersey Clean Communities Council.
Prior to 1989, Paul was president of two corporations – one a condominium development company and the other which owned and operated the then largest private country club in the state. Earlier in his career, he served as the Department of Community Affairs' legislative liaison in the administration of Governor Brendan Byrne.
He is a graduate of Newark Academy and the University of Notre Dame.
